William Shatner Toon Boom Animation Competition

Create an original animation short using Toon Boom Animation software and William Shatner's voice and you could be a winner. With the animated William Shatner starring in your lead role and three audio voiceovers to choose from, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills as a top-notch animator!

Entrants shall create a promotional animation for MOS using one of the three audio tracks that are being provided by the contest organizers. The tracks include William Shatner's voice recordings and supplied music. To download the audio tracks, you must sign up at MOS and register as a citizen of Anteros: www.myouterspace.com.

The "My Outer Space Contest" is scheduled from September 1 until December 1, 2010. It is organized by MOS and Toon Boom.

2nd Annual Animated Advert Bootcamp

2nd Annual Animated Advert Bootcamp, an exciting and compulsory activity for all students at the Centre for Fine Art Animation and Design. The boot camp runs over one and a half weeks, starting the 13th September 2010, ending 22nd September 2010. Every year the Final Year students at CFAD are required to complete a Public Service Announcement Advert as part of their Syllabus and are also encouraged to enter their PSA’s in the very popular, Vuka Competition.  

The Vuka Competition, run by Mnet encourages students to come up with new adverts every year to help make the public aware of serious issues such as drug abuse, HIV and other social issues. The winning team of the Vuka Competition gets their advert flighted on DSTV and M-Net. The Golden Eagle Award, the CFAD award, will also be presented to the winning team for the best TV Commercial produced during the boot camp.

Academic Head of CFAD, Krish Moodley said; “Last year over 20 adverts were completed in a week. The boot camp is also an excellent opportunity for team work and social responsibility.”

Wanted: DTP Operator

Candidates should have a working knowledge of Coreldraw, Freehand and Photoshop.
The candidate will also be required to work on Catalogues, Magazines and will need to be both creative and innovative.

Must be able to work independently and work well under pressure.
