“Across the Pond”

Above painting: "Drift Wood"
“Across the Pond” is the title of an exhibition of new paintings by London artist Sandira Reddy. This collection has been inspired by her time spent in America and will be on show at The Boy’s Club, 68 Boleyn Rd, Dalston, N16 8JG. The exhibition runs from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June.

“The light is completely different in the US,” says Reddy, when comparing how her creative process is altered by painting in the US North East and Hawaii.
“ More seductive than erotic, calming, even cleansing, perhaps spiritual” states New York art collector David Mafoud, who owns one of her pieces. The “Across the Pond” exhibition captures inspiration from the natural world from a variety of distances, ranging from intimately close to vastly afar. This may reflect the distance she has had in the past few years from her home in London and her birthplace, South Africa.

Sandira Reddy’s formal training began at the acclaimed Central St Martins College of art and design. During that time her work was selected as part of a collective exhibition that was held at Notting Hill Arts Club. She then went on to complete a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic design at Kingston University.

“My style has really developed and grown over the past few years” she says “and this collection is a reflection of that change. I’m very excited to present this work”
The painting above is called "Terrace Shadows", acrylic on canvas.
