Dear Parents, Students and CFAD Stakeholders,
We have great news!
Since I joined CFAD in January 2000, my main task was to bring the institution's qualifications in line with the South African Qualifications Authority's (SAQA), and Council on Higher Education (CHE) requirements. In our pursuit of being a provider of quality qualifications, CFAD needed to be registered with these bodies as well as the Department of Education.
But for several years now, we were listed on SAQA’s database as provisionally registered, pending the completion of certain outstanding requirements. Over the past few years it was difficult to ascertain the exact nature of these requirements. I am pleased to report that as a result of a meeting I had with Mr Samuel Isaacs, the Chief Executive of SAQA, the uncertainty of our registration status has been resolved.
On the 28th August I received a letter from Dr Sharma Bhika, Director: Standards Setting and Development (DSSD), SAQA
The letter states:”Please accept my apologies that the registration has taken such a long time, in addition, communication from SAQA officials responsible for the processing has been extremely poor. We will do all in my power to prevent such a situation arising again. It has been ascertained that the qualification was registered, but its status had not been changed on the SAQA website, due to an administrative oversight by my directorate relating to the inclusion of the word “multimedia” in the title. The matter has been rectified and the qualification will appear on the SAQA website as registered as from Friday, 29 August 2008.”
The qualification is registered as follows:
Title: Diploma: Integrated Fine Art, Animation and Design (MultiMedia)
SAQA ID: 49414
From the the first day we opened in 1994, we have been a provider of quality training. The registration and recognition of our institution by SAQA provides peace of mind to our students, parents and stakeholders. This is a great achievement for us. We thank everyone who has been with us through this difficult but enlightening process.
