CFAD is one of the first teaching institutions in South Africa to introduce Toon Boom Animation into its curriculum. Since the beginning of 2008, Toon Boom Animation software has been available to our full time students. Currently the software is taught as part of the integrated Fine Art Animation and Design Diploma. Toon Boom Animation Digital Pro and Storyboard Pro is also taught as software options for students who do not wish to register for the full time diploma.
Toon Boom Animation Inc. is a Canadian software company, which specializes in animation production software. Founded in 1994 and based in Montreal, Quebec, Toon Boom develops animation and storyboarding software for film, television, web animation, games, mobile devices, and training applications. In 2005, Toon Boom was granted a Primetime Emmy in Engineering.
Working extensively in Asia and more particularly in India, China, Korea and The Philippines, Toon Boom is also developing new markets in the Caribbean and Africa.
In late October the CEO and President of Toon Boom, Joan Vogelesang will be visiting the CFAD Campus. This vist indicates the interest the Toon Boom company has in what CFAD has to offer to the South African animation community.
