Based within the Faculty of Humanities, Development and Social Sciences of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the Centre for Creative Arts (CCA) produces four annual festivals – Time of the Writer, Durban International Film Festival, Jomba! Contemporary Dance Festival, and Poetry Africa.
The CCA seeks a skilled and experienced Film Festival Assistant Manager and Web Master who shall be involved in a full range of activities for the successful implementation of its festivals and activities. The post requires organisational and office management skills, the ability to prioritise, good inter-personal and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful applicant must be able to work as a member of a team, handle a variety of responsibilities, work with a high degree of discretion and independence, and meet pressured deadlines.

The Film Festival duties include:
• Contribute to festival design; establish and manage film selection processes within pressured deadlines; review film entries; research, negotiate and invite films and aligned filmmakers; programming of films into overall festival screening schedule
• Research and development of audience development strategies, workshops, seminars, special events and training programmes; liaison with industry stakeholders including government and education specialists; management of workshop programmes.
• Compile and write data for festival publications, press releases, promotional materials, reports, etc
• Oversee film jury processes; management of temp staff
• Assist in negotiating funding support for special festival projects, films, participants; maintain and support relationships with funders and partners.
• Commitment to the orderly upkeep of CCA archives, database systems; compilation of post-project
reports, analyses and follow-ups.
Website management and related duties include:
• Translation of publications to a format suitable for website and other e-publications.
• World wide exchange of data including photos, film print sources and festival contacts with international press and other festivals.
• Research developments in media convergence for use in website development.
• Manage CCA photography archive; design and compile photo sheets for reports; produce photo discs
• Manage video projects; oversee video production service providers and projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Senior Certificate
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, Groupwise, internet, HTML, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premier Pro
• 5 year experience in similar environment
